Emerson joins Margo initiative to enhance industrial edge interoperability
Emerson is joining the Linux Foundation‘s Margo initiative to enhance interoperability in industrial automation environments. The Margo initiative aims to create open standards and practical implementations to facilitate seamless integration of multi-vendor devices and applications.
This collaboration will help manufacturers simplify the deployment and operation of complex edge environments, supporting digital transformation efforts. Emerson’s participation aligns with its “Boundless Automation” vision, promoting data accessibility and computing power at the edge, field, or cloud.
“The modern OT edge is the backbone of our next-generation automation architecture, enabling the availability of data and computing closest to where it is needed,” said Peter Zornio, Emerson’s chief technology officer. “Successful implementation will require open edge standards that will enable scalable, simplified and seamless interoperability among applications, edge devices and orchestration software – no matter the vendor technology.
The initiative represents a significant industry effort to establish interoperable standards for edge applications and devices, benefiting manufacturers of all sizes.
