DevCycle, Macrometa plant feature flags in serverless edge environment
DevCycle has announced a new edge storage engine, Edge Flags, to simplify feature management. DevCycle will work with infrastructure partner Macrometa to streamline feature flagging in serverless edge computing environments.
Edge Flags also enables edge data synchronization. The DevCycle SDK and EdgeDB API would allow clients to store and use edge data for feature targeting. Even when the edge data isn’t accessible, enterprise users can now access it for feature management.
“Data can be saved to DevCycle whenever it is available and accessed by our lightning-fast APIs to make near-instantaneous flagging decisions,” said Aaron Glazer, CEO of DevCycle. “All engineers need to send to DevCycle is a User ID to be able to leverage that data, making its use simple.”

Powered by EdgeDBA, DevCycle Edge Flags features super segments, a flexible way to segment users in EdgeDB. APIs segment different users, which can be imported from any system or platform.
It is easy to get started with the DevCycle Edge Flags as enterprises only need to mark the data that needs to be saved in the cloud, according to the company. This saved edge data will be available for future targeting decisions. With support from Macrometa, customers do not need to pipeline the data, which can be a complex task for vast amounts of data.

Macrometa recently achieved SOC Type 2 certification for its full-stack, worldwide data platform. According to the firm, this accreditation demonstrates the firm’s commitment to keeping customers’ sensitive information safe on the platform.
