Macrometa joins Fastly Compute@Edge partner ecosystem to extend the edge

Macrometa, a startup building what it calls a “Global Data Network” (GDN), has partnered with Fastly to provide edge computing solutions and aid developers in implementing applications at the edge. Sharing the same vision to provide edge infrastructure that maintains the edge data at low infrastructure cost and low latency even at scale,

Macrometa is now a part of the Fastly Compute@Edge ecosystem as part of an effort to provide edge infrastructure that maintains the edge data at low infrastructure cost and low latency at scale, the companies said.

Fastly said the Compute@Edge platform is designed to help developers compile their custom program to WebAssembly and run it on Fastly’s service using the WebAssembly system interface for each compute request. Serverless compute platform as it is known allows developers to build high scale, globally distributed applications and execute them at the edge without worrying about the underlying infrastructure.

Macrometa’s Global Data Network is a secure, high-performance, low-latency data infrastructure based on technologies like Conflict Free Replicated Datatypes. This edge database manages all the changes across the network to maintain a single point of truth. A globally distributed multi-model database is capable of storing, querying, and modifying data as key pairs, JSON documents, graphics and streams on the multi-master architecture.

Edge databases are an important part of the edge infrastructure for the collection of data and reducing the risk of losing data. They are a part of edge devices or on computers in the edge network to ease the process of deploying applications to the edge. Most of these databases feature automatic data integration with devices, automatic collection, aggregation and synchronization of data between databases and systems.

One of the key features of the Macrometa’s Global Data Network is the real-time stream processing allowing developers to transform and process data without requiring it to send it to the cloud.

To demonstrate the way Fastly Compute@Edge serverless compute platform and Macrometa’s Global Data Network will work together, they have developed a video streaming platform Edgely+ and a dashboard to track Fastly’s Real-time Log Analytics using the Macrometa GDN.

Recently Macrometa also partnered with Cloudflare to enable building apps without all the costly infrastructure.
