OSS secures $6M in DoD contracts, strengthening edge computing in defense systems

A $2 million contract upgrades sonar sensor processing for the Virginia Class Submarine, extending OSS’s role as a sole-source supplier since 2010. The Virginia Class Submarine project involves upgrading PCIe accelerator systems to support sonar processing for at least another 10 years. 

“We are pleased to announce two program renewals, highlighting our recurring incumbent platform positions and the proven hardware and software capabilities we have created for demanding military applications,” states OSS President and CEO, Mike Knowles. “These longstanding programs face periodic technology upgrade cycles, and receiving contract renewals is a testament to the continual value we provide in delivering high-performance edge computing solutions. These platform positions are critical components of our long-term strategic plan, and based on our current pipeline, we hope to announce additional platform opportunities in the coming quarters.” 

OSS specializes in ruggedized AI-enabled compute and storage solutions for demanding military and industrial applications. 

Production and design for these contracts are expected to occur in the second half of 2025.

These renewals highlight OSS’s leadership in high-performance edge computing and its strategic role in long-term defense programs. It also validates the long-term demand for high-performance edge computing in defense and suggests continued investment in AI-driven, low-latency, ruggedized solutions. The innovations emerging from these military applications will likely cascade into commercial and industrial edge deployments, influencing future edge AI, storage, and processing architectures.
