Kyndryl leverages Lenovo to expand edge computing solutions across the globe

IT infrastructure service provider Kyndryl has entered a global partnership with Lenovo, a PC, and edge server manufacturer, to expand its edge computing services and deliver scalable hybrid cloud solutions. The companies said the combined solution will offer automation, optimization, and differentiated IT infrastructure services for enterprise customers requiring on-premise and cloud-based application services.

“Today’s new IT capabilities are transforming nearly every industry, and Lenovo is committed to empowering customers’ intelligent transformation,” said Kirk Skaugen, executive vice president, Lenovo Group and president of Infrastructure Solutions Group.

According to a widely cited Gartner report, roughly 10% of enterprise-generated data is created and processed outside a traditional centralized data center or cloud. By 2025, Gartner predicts this figure will reach 75%.

These data creation patterns will mean enterprises will embrace distributed computing architectures that require management expertise along with operational and performance measures. The joint solution will provide services to meet these needs of enterprise customers, executives said.

“Kyndryl’s industry leadership in managed infrastructure capabilities coupled with Lenovo’s extensive portfolio of solutions from the device to the cloud uniquely positions us to meet customers’ mission-critical, distributed service applications through automation, optimization, and differentiated management technologies,” Skaugen added.

The collaboration will provide customers with an edge-to-cloud experience that leverages Lenovo’s portfolio for edge computing, mobile, PCs, and data center products coupled with Kyndryl’s customizable services for deployment, migration, and optimization of their existing IT infrastructure.

“Our proven track record of delivering value to customers worldwide with Lenovo provides a solid foundation for expanding our relationship with new jointly architected solutions,” said Stephen Leonard, global alliances and partnerships leader at Kyndryl.

Along with an existing portfolio of diverse products, Lenovo offers hardware in an “as-a-service” consumption-based model through Lenovo TruScale that allows migration of workloads from the edge to the cloud.

The partnership will provide solutions for customers from hybrid cloud, hyper-converged infrastructure, and edge computing applications with a ready portfolio available for integration.

“We’re confident that customers will be able to continue to rely on the combination of Kyndryl and Lenovo to deliver reliable, high-performance infrastructure and services from personal computers to servers and storage to advanced computing at the edge,” said Kyndryl’s Leonard.
