Edge Centres expands across the U.S. with support from DataQube
DataQube, a startup building a standalone 5G-ready edge data center system, will be actively supporting an Australia edge data center provider, Edge Centres, for its U.S. expansion plan. As a part of the announcement, the Australian startup has ordered twenty DataQube pods with a few more orders are expected in the forthcoming months.
DataQube’s standalone edge data center system has a flexible structure that can accommodate easy set up without major modifications to a site. Some of the reasons that make the firm’s modular edge data center system (or, as DataQube calls them, ‘podular’) stand out is the scalability for edge deployments. More importantly, in data centers, energy consumption a major issue; DataQube is pitching its architecture as a sustainable solution with flexible power options to support all energy types in all combinations.
“We are delighted to be working with Edge Centres on this exciting new venture,” says David Keegan, CEO of DataQube Global. “Deploying our podular data centers instead of commissioning a data center from scratch is not only makes commercial sense; DataQube’s green credentials will help data centers of the future to become more sustainable by reducing energy consumption, not just switching source.”
Recently, DataQube raised €26 million Series A funding from Rgreen Invest, a leading French investment management company to to develop a sustainable solution to support the data center industry. The environmental friendly solution from DataQube has played a significant role in acquiring partnerships and collaboration for edge data center expansion, according to executives. UK-based DataQube is working towards building solutions to reduce carbon emission targets and the transition from the use of fossil fuel to renewable energy sources.
“We needed a partner that we could work with globally,” said Jon Eaves, CEO at Edge Centres. “DataQube and Edge Centres are aligned on a global roll-out plan starting in the US,” he said.
