Genetec unveils new edge solution to facilitate security tools migration to hybrid cloud architecture

The solution is built on Linux and aims to help firms modernize their security infrastructure while enabling them to retain existing legacy sensor infrastructure.

According to Genetec, Streamvault Edge is also low-maintenance, allowing individuals with no specialized IT expertise to deploy edge devices that simplify the commissioning, deployment and management of connected remote sites.

Genetec will present Streamvault Edge and its capabilities at the ISC West conference, which will take place in Las Vegas between March 22nd and 25th.

“This is just the beginning of a new edge platform strategy and a more efficient way of delivering our solutions to customers,” commented Genetec Chief Security Officer Christian Morin.

The executive also confirmed Streamvault Edge will initially focus on delivering a hybrid cloud architecture for enterprise-grade video surveillance, but that additional security and IoT applications to be introduced in the coming months.

“We are starting with video, but Streamvault Edge will soon evolve to power a broader range of capabilities from access control to advanced operations technologies,” Morin concluded.

Genetec is just one of the companies currently using edge technology to facilitate data migration to the cloud.

Last year, for example, Accenture and VMware jointly launched a dedicated business group intended to help organizations accelerate migration to the cloud.

More recently, Filebase partnered with Flexify.IO to enable data migration from Web2 to decentralized Web3 edge.
