Filebase announces Flexify.IO integration to enable data migration from Web2 to decentralized Web3 edge

Decentralized object storage provider Filebase has announced today a new integration with multi-cloud storage virtualization and migration platform Flexify.IO.

Following the start of the collaboration, Filebase’s customers will be able to quickly migrate data from traditional cloud providers – including Amazon S3, Azure Blob Storage, Backblaze B2, Wasabi, and Google Cloud Platform – and onto decentralized, geo-redundant storage networks.

“This new integration with Flexify presents a seamless migration path for Filebase customers to move their existing storage workloads onto decentralized networks,” said Filebase CEO and Co-founder Joshua Noble.

Data management and transfer are done using an S3-Compatible application programming interface (API), with no requirements of purchasing cryptocurrency or special software.

“It is these types of integrations that will allow us to accelerate the adoption of decentralized storage within the Web3 ecosystem,” Noble added.

According to Flexify, because the company’s storage networks take advantage of unused storage capacity globally, customers will be able to save on average 85% when compared to traditional cloud service providers.

For context, the cost of migration to Filebase from most traditional clouds is currently $0.03 per GB.

At the time of writing, the company has reportedly transferred over 20 petabytes of data and billions of objects over the course of the last year.

“We have helped thousands of data owners to diversify or switch from their original cloud provider as they grow, move into new geographic markets, and seek storage diversification for strategic reasons,” said Flexify founder Sergey Kandaurov.

“Now, in partnership with Filebase, we will also enable them to embrace decentralized storage”, he concluded.

The trend of decentralized networks and storage is not a new one in the industry, with companies like Ridge and FeatherCloud currently working on technologies to make the shift from traditional cloud infrastructure possible.
