Zadara, Kasten by Veeam unite to provide multi tier data protection for Kubernetes

Zadara and Kasten by Veeam have joined forces to provide a comprehensive data protection solution for Kubernetes environments, combining Zadara’s zCompute, zStorage, and Kasten’s K10 platform.

This solution offers backup, disaster recovery and application mobility. The companies say Zadara’s zStorage and Kasten K10 provide a simplified, efficient and secure storage solution.

Moving an application across Kubernetes clusters allows for various use cases such as disaster recovery, testing and development and performance testing in isolated environments. The Kasten K10 enables the movement and transfer of applications across various cloud accounts, clusters and regions, including Zadara’s Global Edge Cloud locations, company executives say.

“Developers are relied upon to rapidly develop and deploy applications that accelerate digital transformation,” says Gaurav Rishi, the VP of product at Kasten by Veeam. “The combination of Zadara zStorage, zCompute and Kasten K10 offers an agile, cost-effective solution eliminating the need for CapEx storage purchases, support contracts and disruptive data migrations.”

The Kasten by Veeam and Zadara data management solution is designed for Kubernetes, featuring cloud-native principles, APIs and a multi-cluster management interface. It supports Kubernetes-native RBAC, Auth, encryption with KMS and data immutability to fight ransomware.

“Legacy backup systems were not designed to comprehensively safeguard this next generation of cloud-native applications deployed in Kubernetes,” says Nelson Nahum, the CTO of Zadara. “Zadara is a leader in providing business-driven outcomes across multiple storage tiers and shift capacity to where the application needs it. In partnering with Kasten by Veeam, we’re bringing to market a combined offering that protects data from myriad threats.”

The zStorage, zCompute and Kasten K10 bundle can also assist various databases, including MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL and Elasticsearch.

Earlier this month, BroadBand Tower collaborated with Zadara to launch its c9 Flex-N Infrastructure-as-a-Service Platform in Japan, utilizing Zadara Edge Cloud Services. The companies say this all-in-one cloud solution provides storage, computing, and networking services.
