Tampnet and Armada deploy AI-powered edge computing to offshore energy rigs
Tampnet and Armada, an edge computing infrastructure company, have partnered to bring AI and edge computing solutions to offshore energy operations, enhancing safety and efficiency.
Tampnet provides high-capacity offshore connectivity through subsea fiber networks, private 4G/5G, and satellites, enabling AI-powered applications.
Armada’s compute platform delivers real-time AI insights directly on offshore rigs while minimizing infrastructure needs. Two solutions are being launched: OpsSafety (real-time worker safety monitoring) and OpsInsight (AI-driven operational insights).
The partnership uses a spoke-and-hub architecture: on-rig compute for real-time processing and on-shore hubs for scalable, cross-rig data analysis.
This architecture balances local processing for safety and anomaly detection with centralized compute for large-scale insights.

U.S. Navy also recently deployed Armada’s mobile edge data center for tactical operations.
