Scale Computing signs MOU with Intel for enterprise edge computing
Scale Computing announced it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Intel for a partnership to deliver their enterprise edge computing platform for Intel distributors, resellers, systems integrators, and end users.
The partnership will showcase the Intel NUC Enterprise Edge Compute (EEC) Edition made in conjunction with Scale Computing and will be available in a pilot program starting in the third quarter of 2022 through select Intel authorized distributors.
The Intel NUC EEC is described as a platform designed to run applications on the edge, utilizing software from Scale Computing for non-IT environments that is managed centrally through a Scale Computing user interface for ease of use. Scale Computing says it is designed specifically for sites that need infrastructure outside of the data center, with the ability to be deployed in most environments while occupying only about the same amount of space as three smartphones stacked together, requiring low amounts of power, and easy to install. The company also lists centralized fleet management, rolling upgrades, ease of deployment, virtual machine creation, and automated intelligence features in the software.
Examples of the applications are high availability clustering, rolling upgrades and integrated data protection.
Scale Computing says it is usable for general purpose needs, industry, and IoT applications.

In 2021, Scale Computing announced a collaboration with IBM on the delivery and management of enterprise edge computing to move data and applications across hybrid cloud environments.
