Sateliot joins IoT M2M council, seeks to connect IoT via satellite

Sateliot, a satellite internet provider, has become a member of the IoT M2M Council (IMC), the world’s largest trade association for the IoT sector.

Sateliot joined the IMC to raise awareness of its technology, which combines low-earth-orbit satellite connection with more conventional cellular networks under standard 5G connectivity.

The IMC primarily aims to promote IoT technologies and devices among its 25,000 members worldwide. The Council offers a broad range of services, including template RFPs, to help members source IoT technology, educational events, and tools to assess IoT readiness.

“We welcome Sateliot and its unrivaled new technology to the IMC Board of Governors, and we expect to be hearing a lot more about it – and LEO technology in general – in the coming months,” says IMC Chairman Romil Bahl, President & CEO of Kore.

Sateliot says it is revolutionizing how people connect to satellite internet by offering a more affordable and reliable solution than traditional satellite providers. Specifically, Sateliot’s solution will enable 5G-ready NB-IoT devices to connect to the company’s constellation of satellites without the need for any modification, allowing for complete global coverage.

“Our solution allows the same few-dollars NB-IoT RF module that works over cellular to connect, without any change in hardware, to our constellation of satellites, allowing basically seamless everywhere connectivity,” says Sateliot CCO Gianluca Redolfi, who will represent the company on the IMC Board of Governors, “We look at the IMC as an ideal platform to establish thought leadership in crucial vertical markets — IMC membership will drive awareness among buyers of IoT technology.”

Sateliot launched its first satellite in early 2021. The company plans to commercialize its services in mid-2023. In the meantime, Sateliot is offering early access to its technology through an Early Adopters Program (EAP).
