Ridge launches hybrid cloud to speed up deployments from cloud to edge

Ridge, an edge cloud provider, has launched a new comprehensive cloud solution called Hybrid Cloud. Ridge says its distributed cloud architecture allows businesses to unify business-critical apps across all their locations, whether they are on-premises or managed locations run by Ridge.

According to the company, workloads can be transferred easily between different environments. Businesses can also manage them through a single portal, providing companies with a cohesive cloud experience across all public and private locations.

Ridge argues that many large public clouds cannot service applications in underserved areas outside of the main metropolitan markets where they place their infrastructure. Other applications for automated manufacturing, connected transportation, and digital health also require on-premises server connectivity.

By partnering with worldwide MSPs and integrating with pre-existing on-premises virtualization systems, Ridge says its hybrid cloud guarantees infrastructure will not limit business needs.

Businesses can tailor Ridge’s hybrid cloud technology’s throughput, locality and commercial requirements according to specific needs. Ridge’s cloud solutions use existing servers and run application workloads on virtualization, IaaS, or bare-metal machines.

“More and more businesses are discovering that in order to deploy their modern applications they need to overlay cloud-native building blocks across multiple locations — and on any kind of infrastructure,” said Mati Lerner, Ridge co-CEO. “Ridge enables them to easily expand their footprint, with no need for installation, and without any latency or data residency roadblocks.”

This year, Ridge was recently in the news for partnering with Hivelocity, a provider of bare metal cloud and edge computing solutions. According to the companies, by integrating Hivelocity‘s cloud and bare metal services with Ridge’s cloud platform, enterprise customers could deploy cloud-native applications more cheaply, quickly, and effectively.
