Research firm Mobile Experts lays out ‘map’ to revenue for telco edge services
Mobile Experts has released a new report examining the developing Edge market. Topics covered include edge data center positioning, deployments, real estate ownership, apps driving the edge, and more.
Mobile Experts claims that over the past two years, it has mapped out the revenue-sharing models for each application area, based on the leverage held by the telco, the hyperscale cloud provider, and the enterprise customer. Latency and other technical factors play a role, but the business roles depend on non-technical business factors.
“We believe the next four years will determine much of the structure of the Edge Computing ecosystem. We also foresee consumer use cases will determine the structure of investments, as well as the locations of the initial data centers,” says Chief Analyst Joe Madden.
