RaceTrac to improve chain store operations with Acumera’s edge computing platform

Convenience store chain RaceTrac, Inc. has announced the successful deployment of the Acumera Reliant platform across all of its locations, with the aim of improving operational efficiency and guest experience. Based in Atlanta, US, RaceTrac partnered with Acumera to deliver an end-to-end edge computing platform.

The retail franchise manages a network exceeding 575 RaceTrac convenience store outlets in eight southern states, alongside ownership of over 230 RaceWay stores spanning 12 states throughout the Southeastern region. In efforts to streamline operations and improve customer service, RaceTrac opted for the Acumera Reliant Platform due to its capacity to consolidate management tasks and offer immediate analytical insights.

Tyler Grubbs, executive director of store technology at RaceTrac, says: “We have been impressed by Acumera’s edge computing platform. The ability to consolidate hardware and systems and make changes in near real-time has been a game-changer for us.”

With this partnership, the company notes that the Acumera Reliant platform provides RaceTrac with added agility and technology, in order to enable the company to add new applications without the need for additional hardware. The company reveals that this has resulted in a 90% reduction in truck-rolls due to critical devices failing and a decrease of over 40% in software tickets since the platform’s implementation.

John Lukas, CIO & VP of information technology at RaceTrac, emphasizes the importance of maintaining uptime. “Maintaining the uptime of our critical systems, applications, and devices is crucial to our business operations. RaceTrac simply can’t afford any downtime or interruption in service,” he adds.

This is not the first retail chain store to utilize Acumera’s edge computing offering. In February 2024, Acumera announced its collaboration venture with US-based convenience store and pizza chain Casey’s to support the company’s digital transformation and edge computing initiatives through the use of the Acumera Reliant platform.

The edge computing platform Acumera Reliant, moves applications to the cloud with the sole purpose of delivering interactive customer experiences with reliability and security. The company also claims that the platform makes deploying and scaling new and legacy applications easy, while reducing latency, lost connectivity and cost.
