Nokia joins with Etisalat UAE to deploy 5G private wireless networks in Abu Dhabi
An agreement between Nokia and Etisalat UAE will offer the deployment of 5G private wireless networks to help enterprise customers deploy edge applications in various industries including oil and gas, manufacturing and critical infrastructure as well as government organizations.

To introduce enterprise customers to the offering, a private network has been set up based on the Nokia DAC platform at the Etisalat Innovation Centre in Abu Dhabi. The deployment is primarily aimed toward enterprise organizations based out of Abu Dhabi, UAE which is also the operator’s headquarters. In the announcement, the collaboration will also offer a wide range of solutions including Mobile Edge Computing (MEC), Modular Private Wireless (MPW), and Nokia Digital Automation Cloud (DAC) to drive edge innovations in small to medium enterprises. The Nokia Group Communication will be providing push-to-talk and push-to-video capabilities as well as Enterprise Voice Core as a part of the agreement.
“With over 75 5G and more than 420 private wireless customers around the world, Nokia offers field-proven technology and expertise in the 5G private wireless networks domain,” said Rima Manna, vice president of Middle East Business at Nokia.
Some of the reasons for the increasing adoption of the 5G private wireless networks is the flexibility to the operator to reconfigure the 5G network, providing greater control at different levels of priority access. Private 5G networks are expected to be widely adopted as part of Industry 4.0 transformation efforts because of the network’s security and reliability, as it avoids exposure to public interfaces and is designed to keep data secure.
