Nokia, Flex partner on 5G standalone private wireless network for Industry 4.0 in Brazil
Flex Brazil, an electronics company, is exploring the use of 5G wireless networks for advanced manufacturing solutions in Brazil’s evolving Industry 4.0 market. The company has partnered with Nokia to combine 5G standalone private wireless network and Industry 4.0 expertise to build a robust and smart ecosystem.
Nokia Digital Automation Cloud (Nokia DAC) will deliver the private on-demand wireless service as well as MX Industrial Edge computing and digital-enabling tools, improving critical communications for Flex manufacturing operations. Flex will initially use the technology to discover the potential of 5G to establish a reliable connection, increase wireless applications, transfer large amounts of operational data transfers, and allow for more layout flexibility on the shop floor.
The companies will use the Nokia Network Digital Twin technology to predict maintenance demands and potential network outages. By creating a digital twin of the private 5G network and its connected devices, Nokia Networks allows Flex to monitor operations in real-time, which reduces production disruptions.

The Nokia Digital Automation Cloud links the 4.9G/LTE and 5G industrial-grade network connection with on-premise edge computing for data management and real-time processing of applications in smart manufacturing.
Nokia’s MX Industrial Edge computing solution also recently added new capabilities and applications to help enterprises advance digital transformation. The new Nokia MXIE feature allows non-cloud native applications to run securely alongside containerized applications. This brings the Nokia MXIE solution to more ecosystems, including legacy applications.
