NearbyComputing earns Cool Vendor in edge computing status from Gartner

NearbyComputing, a company offering orchestration and automation of multi-access edge computing (MEC) and 5G, has been acknowledged as a Cool Vendor in Gartner’s Edge Computing market report. The report showcases vendors, products, and services that I&O leaders should consider deploying.

Josep Martí, CEO of NearbyComputing expresses excitement about being recognized as a Cool Vendor in Edge Computing by Gartner.

“We have big plans for 2024 and beyond to build on the success we’ve had so far in helping our customers realize the benefits of edge computing in a variety of use cases,” elaborates Marti.

Edge computing presents new revenue opportunities and is estimated to be worth $445 billion by 2030. Further, Gartner highlights that by 2025, most data managed by enterprises, over 50%, to be exact, will be created and processed outside the confines of conventional data centers or the cloud

However, according to Gartner, widespread adoption is hindered by critical issues. In a bid to overcome these limitations, NearbyComputing’s NearbyOne platform aims to simplify management and reduce edge infrastructure costs, facilitating the adoption of edge computing.

According to Gartner, NearbyOne is an edge management and orchestration (EMO) solution that simplifies the management of multiple elements in an edge topology. It combines routers, servers, virtual network functions, and edge applications in a single platform, enabling dynamic orchestration and meeting SLAs. While applicable across industries, it has seen early successes in the telecom, utilities, aerospace and defense sectors.

“After several commercial and innovation projects, the solution is the most flexible in the market as it can be deployed in different environments, from any hyperscalers infrastructure to private clouds and even on-premises,” adds Marti.

This summer, NearbyComputing and Druid Software created  an automated 5G Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) solution tailored to industrial needs. The partnership combines the NearbyOne Orchestrator’s edge computing management and automation capabilities with the cellular core network software of Druid Raemis. The alliance aims to provide deployable private 5G solutions to enterprises.
