MemryX MX3 AI Accelerator aims to speed up AI adoption in edge systems

MemryX, a start-up company that designs silicon for artificial intelligence (AI) processing, has announced that it has begun customer sampling of its MX3 AI Accelerator. Designed to be an easy-to-use and efficient edge AI accelerator, developers can use MX3 to speed up AI processing in nearly any edge computing system.

MemryX users may compile any trained AI model with just a single click. The developer can optimize the model with high utilization (>50%) and complete accuracy in minutes. This, in turn, cuts months off the software development process and reduces the time to market.

Developers can use the MX3 to speed up AI processing in nearly any edge computing system, whether a legacy project or a new design. The MX3 directly connects to any applications processor, providing scalable AI for various industries, including automotive, Industry 4.0, robotics, IoT, smart vision systems, edge computing and the metaverse.

“Reaching the milestone of customer sampling is gratifying, but what’s even better is the feedback from initial customer experience with the MX3,” said MemryX CEO Keith Kressin. “Customers are seeing first-hand how our solution is different from other AI accelerators.”

Hardware kits are available to customers upon request. According to the company, MemryX is working with multiple early adopter customers across various industries, and the feedback has been positive.

MemryX was co-founded in February 2019 by CTO Dr. Wei Lu and Dr. Zhengya Zhang, both computer science and electrical engineering professors at the University of Michigan.

Earlier this year, semiconductor industry veterans Puneet Singh and Roger Peene joined MemryX. Singh assumed the role of vice president of engineering while Peene assumed the product and business development vice president role.

Singh focuses on leading MemryX into volume production to provide robust, dependable, and technology-first chips at scale. Peene focuses on product and technology planning and commercial company success, particularly in industrial, transportation, and the Internet of Things (IoT). They added the two new members to the MemryX senior team and they report to CEO Keith Kressin.
