MachineQ shows new LoRaWAN multi-sensor for asset management

MachineQ has introduced a LoRaWAN-certified device, MQflex, to support the growing market for LoRaWAN edge devices used for asset management and tracking. MachineQ, a Comcast company, will demonstrate MQflex at the LoRaWAN World Expo which is hosted by the LoRa Alliance in Paris, next month.

According to the LoRa Alliance, LoRaWAN devices have witnessed a significant increase in the number of certified LPWAN (low-power wide-area network) sensors on the market, which has increased by 34% in 2021.

The MQflex multi-sensor device is capable of monitoring temperature, humidity, water leakage, pressure, and acceleration while also featuring a push-button function. The multi-sensor device can also be configured for sensing magnetic field, angular rotation, and barometric pressure. The embedded device is powered by a single battery which opens the possibility for multiple use cases in the industrial edge ecosystem. The device can operate for up to five years on a single replaceable battery and can be deployed under harsh industrial conditions.

“The device is cost-effective, flexible, and proven at scale for enterprise-grade deployments,” said Gaurav Naik, head of engineering for MachineQ. “Customers can use the MQflex to capture sensor data for a new IoT implementation or use it to expand upon existing IoT solutions with additional capabilities the device is designed to handle.”

The MQflex can be remotely configured via downlink, providing control and flexibility for enterprises. The embedded device supports firmware updates over-the-air through the use of Bluetooth Low Energy and LoRaWAN wireless networks. This gives enhanced performance and security features to the device for its enterprise-scale edge deployments.

MachineQ recently announced that GP PRO expanded its existing proprietary network to deliver its KOLO Smart Monitoring System to a wide range of MachineQ’s IoT networks. The KOLO system aims to automate restroom device monitoring and management to improve hygiene and custodial efficiency.
