Latent AI integrates LEIP with Esri’s ArcGIS to enhance AI capabilities for edge devices

Latent AI has unveiled the integration of its Latent AI Efficient Inference Platform (LEIP) with Esri’s ArcGIS software. The development enables the use of artificial intelligence in drones, sensors, and other edge devices, in a bid to enhance the capabilities of ArcGIS.

With this integration, the company says ArcGIS users will experience improved decision-making and deeper geospatial insights, particularly in remote areas with limited bandwidth. Analysts will have the ability to build and optimize AI models directly within the ArcGIS interface and deploy these models to edge devices for on-site analysis.

LEIP’s field-updatable AI allows for adjustments and retraining directly on the device, ensuring the models stay relevant and accurate over time. The approach addresses data sovereignty concerns and minimizes the need for data transfer by processing information locally.

Jags Kandasamy, CEO of Latent AI, expresses enthusiasm about the collaboration: “LEIP empowers ArcGIS users to transform their geospatial workflows with real-time data and insights at the data source. This collaboration revolutionizes how organizations approach geospatial analysis, leading to faster and more informed decisions.”

According to the company, ArcGIS analysts can train, optimize, and deploy AI models within the ArcGIS interface, simplifying workflows and focusing on real-time geospatial analysis. LEIP allows for model optimization either for cloud inference, with the aim of reducing operational expenses, or for direct deployment to edge devices for offline analysis. Additionally, LEIP’s field-updatable AI enables on-site adaptation. This includes areas with unreliable connectivity. Users can analyze results, make adjustments, and retrain and redeploy the AI model on drones, sensors, or other edge devices. Lastly, model inferences are automatically formatted for integration back into ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, or ArcGIS Enterprise.

Beau Legeer, Esri director of imagery and remote sensing, adds: “LEIP streamlines workflows and empowers our users by enabling them to train and deploy models directly within ArcGIS. This allows for faster decision-making, particularly valuable in remote locations with limited bandwidth.”

This integration is part of Latent AI’s inclusion in the Esri startup program, which is part of the Esri Partner Network (EPN). The partnership provides Latent AI with access to resources within the Esri ecosystem, accelerating the development of LEIP and driving geospatial innovation.
