Landing AI launches solution to help enterprises build and run LVMs at the edge

Computer vision cloud platform Landing AI has announced the launch of its capability to help enterprises build domain-specific large vision models (LVMs). The solution enables businesses with vast image libraries to bring artificial intelligence to their proprietary image data.

The company notes that large vision models will enable the vision revolution in the way that large language models enable the text-prompting revolution.

Landing AI’s LVM solution allows companies to take unlabeled image data and create high-performing LVMs that help solve a diverse set of computer vision tasks in their specific domains, according to the company. The company’s domain-specific LVMs are trained using the enterprise’s private images.

“Enterprises’ Large Vision Model revolution is following the Large Language Model revolution, but with one key difference: Whereas internet text that LLMs learned from are similar enough to most corporate text for the model to apply, a lot of companies in manufacturing, life sciences, geo-spatial data, agriculture, retail, and other sectors have proprietary images that look nothing like the typical Instagram pictures found online,” says said Andrew Ng, Landing AI’s CEO.

“That’s why developing domain-specific LVMs is key to unlocking the value of the images in these domains.”

Landing AI is building and running domain specific LVMs for large enterprises who want to create value from proprietary images, the company says. This includes production line images for finding defects in manufacturing or histopathology images for finding cancer cells in life sciences.

Landing AI also notes that companies will have the ability to pinpoint solutions for tasks such as object detection, image segmentation, and visual prompting.

The addition of LVM capability to Landing AI is part of the company’s continued investment in generative AI. Recently, Landing AI announced its visual prompting capability as part of its LandingLens offering. The technology takes the framework of text prompting in technologies such as ChatGPT and brings it to computer vision.
