JLL, Lumen, Schneider Electric launch plug-and-play data center solution
JLL, an investment management and commercial real estate company, together with Lumen Technologies and Schneider Electric, has unveiled a new modular data center solution across the United States that aims to address supply challenges and provide quick adaptability and scalability.
According to Michele Hix, the vice president of strategic customers at Schneider Electric North America, “In today’s digitally driven market, data centers and networks are essential for business transformation.
“Our collaboration with JLL and Lumen Technologies provides our clients with options to handle the megatrends shaping business, cities and consumers everywhere with solutions that are digital, sustainable, efficient and built to scale.”
The companies say the modular data center approach brings changes to the market by reducing deployment times and enabling proximity to users, reducing latency and solving scalability challenges.
Vincent Provenzano, the head of advanced solutions at Lumen, adds that “digital transformations and next-gen tech like AI require more than just speed to market. Customers are also looking for edge compute, data accessibility, increased network security, application performance and control.”
The data center industry is booming due to the increasing demand for AI, IoT, 5G and edge applications, the companies add. However, this growth has resulted in supply-demand imbalances in specific markets as the current infrastructure struggles to meet the rising demand.
Lumen Technologies and Schneider Electric provide global network solutions, digital automation and energy management services. JLL will assist in site selection, leveraging its market coverage to secure sites along Lumen’s fiber network.
Schneider Electric also plans to support the design and construction of a modular data center, with the aim of ensuring it becomes operational in six to nine months.
Earlier this year, Lumen Technologies expanded its 400G Wavelength Services across the US, offering connectivity for businesses to grow their digital platforms. With over 240 data centers and 800TB of capacity, Lumen says it provides self-service tools for quoting, designing and building wavelengths on its North American network.
