InfraRed Capital Partners debuts NexSpace edge data center in DACH region

InfraRed Capital Partners has launched NexSpace, a new edge data center platform in partnership with local developers. Targeting regional cities and towns in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, NexSpace aims to expand its presence in the DACH region.

NexSpace plans to build energy-efficient data centers in the DACH region to cater to the increasing demand for data storage at the edge.

NexSpace’s data centers prioritize regional corporate customers’ IT outsourcing programs. They also cater to organizations that value data retrieval speed, the company says.

Stephane Kofman, the head of capital gain funds at Infrared Capital Partners, emphasizes the importance of data centers in enabling global digital transformation. He also highlights the fast-growing potential of edge computing and the regional small and mid-size corporate market, which requires capital investment to meet demands.

“Germany is ideally suited to this strategy, thanks to its large but regionalized economy and substantial base of ‘Mittelstand’ enterprise customers,” Kofman adds.

The company says the facility is operational and serves as a hub for technology and science in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region.

InfraRed says it will also invest in NexSpace’s growth plans, focusing on organic greenfield development for the first phase

Holger Sievers, the CEO of NexSpace, believes that the edge opportunity is the next growth phase for the data center industry.

“With a focus on greenfield development of new, energy-efficient facilities, I have no doubt that NexSpace is well placed to succeed,” comments Sievers.

According to a recent Dell’Oro Group report, the Data Center Physical Infrastructure (DCPI) market has seen strong growth, with five consecutive quarters of double-digit year-over-year growth

Pandemic-induced orders may be declining, but the market is experiencing a new driver of revenue growth, namely early AI deployments. Dell’Oro reports that vendors are securing orders for equipment designed for large-scale AI workloads.

North America, Asia Pacific (excluding China), Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) were the fastest-growing regions, while the Caribbean and Latin American (CALA) regions saw solid revenue growth.

The report also notes that thermal management and power distribution are key factors driving product growth. The study also predicts that the market growth rates will continue to surpass historical levels, primarily due to the increasing adoption of AI technologies.
