Hughes, Netskope to deliver network edge security for SMEs
Hughes Network Systems and Netskope have collaborated to provide small and medium-sized enterprises with a cloud-based security solution. The Hughes Managed Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) combines Software-Defined Wide Area Networking (SD-WAN) technology with advanced security features. The service is delivered via a distributed cloud platform located in over 70 data centers around the globe.
According to the company, the managed service allows SMEs to access the same high level of security as larger enterprises, all at a more affordable price point.
Hughes has provided secure networking solutions through its managed services. At the same time, Netskope has gained recognition as a Gartner Magic Quadrant leader for security service edge. Leveraging the capabilities of Hughes managed services, particularly HughesON, the security solution offers scalability, flexibility and adaptability to address evolving business needs effectively.
“Hughes Managed SASE makes it turn-key to manage company data securely, wherever it’s transmitted across a growing perimeter of endpoints that employees need to access in the office, on the road, and remotely,” says Dan Rasmussen, the senior vice president of the enterprise division at Hughes.
According to Rasmussen, the Hughes Managed SASE solution streamlines the secure handling of organizational data by effectively securing endpoints. The company recognizes the growing trend of utilizing remote endpoint devices beyond the confines of a traditional office setting. The companies explain that this trend necessitates an end-to-end security solution that protects data transmission across various endpoints.
The jointly developed Hughes Managed SASE includes essential features for a cloud-based security solution. These capabilities include Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB), Secure Web Gateways, Firewall-as-a-Service (FWaaS), Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), as well as the option for Managed Detection and Response (MDR).

Earlier this year, Netskope launched an endpoint SD-WAN solution that takes advantage of its SASE system. The company says the solution delivers improved security and a better user experience for remote workers.
