Equinix, Aviatrix to help streamline multicloud at the network edge

Equinix, a data center and interconnection service provider, has announced Aviatrix Edge will be available on the company’s Network Edge platform to help businesses manage multicloud networking complexities. The company says that the move is part of Equinix’s ongoing effort to provide customers with digital services that accelerate innovation.

This month, Aviatrix Edge — currently in private preview — will become generally available in the Equinix Marketplace. The new Aviatrix Network Edge device enables high-performance private cloud networking using Equinix Fabric software-defined interconnection. The companies say the partnership between Aviatrix and Equinix will offer customers of both companies high-functioning encrypted connections to the cloud and simplified IT management.

“We are all in on cloud for the agility and speed, but native cloud networking was a challenge we needed to overcome,” said Jim Setty, the network architect at Masco Corporation. “Aviatrix was the answer to those challenges. Now, as a result of this partnership, we have seamlessly extended our Aviatrix cloud network and network management with the global reach of Equinix Fabric.”

According to the companies, Network Edge helps businesses select, deploy and connect virtual machines quickly and efficiently. The new Aviatrix Edge addition provides users with a secure and efficient way to connect to the cloud without managing complex operational procedures. The companies say that by increasing operational efficiency, IT teams can dedicate more time to developing innovative projects.

Aviatrix Edge on Network Edge provides a streamlined platform to deploy cloud applications and services from public cloud providers, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform. It creates an overlay network of transit hubs with automated deployment for enhanced visibility and control.

Aviatrix Edge offers high-performance encryption using line-rate IPsec over AWS Direct Connect, Azure ExpressRoute and Google Cloud Interconnect circuits. It also helps to reduce capital expenditure (CAPEX) and provides an OPEX pricing model.

“Aviatrix is very excited to join with Equinix to offer Aviatrix Edge on Network Edge,” stated Madhuri Kaniganti, the senior principal product manager at Aviatrix. “The new solution extends Aviatrix Intelligent Cloud Network to Equinix Fabric and onto the cloud, delivering a consistent architecture with operational visibility and control across hybrid and multicloud environments.”
