Edgx secures €2.3M to advance real-time AI processing for satellites

Belgian spacetech startup Edgx secured €2.3M in seed funding to accelerate the commercialization of its AI-powered edge computer for satellites, Edgx Sterna.

The funding round was co-led by imec.istart future fund and Flanders Future Tech Fund, with additional support from existing investor imec.istart.

Edgx also signed a €1.1M multi-unit deal with a satellite operator and plans an in-orbit demonstration on a SpaceX Falcon 9 mission in February 2026. The Edgx Sterna Computer, powered by NVIDIA technology, enables real-time data processing in orbit, eliminating the need to send raw data to Earth for analysis.

The Sterna system includes the SpaceFeather software stack, featuring a space-hardened Linux OS, autonomous health monitoring, radiation fault detection, and in-orbit application deployment.

Edgx aims to address the bottleneck in space data processing by enabling satellites to analyze and act on data in real-time. The company’s progress signals a shift in how edge AI is deployed not just at terrestrial endpoints but in orbital networks, opening new frontiers for edge intelligence in Earth observation, defense, and space communications.

“Customers aren’t waiting for flight validation, they’re signing now. With a full launch manifest, secured commercial contracts, and our first mission set for Falcon 9, this funding enables us to scale to meet demand for real-time intelligence from space,” says Nick Destrycker, CEO of Edgx.

Imec.istart’s managing partner praised Edgx for solving critical challenges in the space industry with transformative AI-powered edge computing technology.
