Edgio, Wurl team up to offer data-driven FAST syndication for content providers

Edgio, an edge services provider, has announced a strategic partnership with Wurl to offer global FAST syndication through Edgio’s Uplynk service.

The industry’s growth has led to an increased demand for quality content. The research firm Omdia predicts that the FAST market will triple by 2027. With Wurl’s FAST syndication integrated into Edgio’s Uplynk service, the companies say customers can distribute content through Wurl’s network, generating linear channels using Uplynk’s scheduler UI or APIs.

According to Eric Black, the chief technology officer and general manager for media at Edgio, the collaboration highlights their commitment to enabling the delivery of high-quality content while simplifying the streaming workflow.

“We’re thrilled to be working together with Wurl to make that a reality,” Black says.

Craig Heiting, head of corporate strategy at Wurl, also emphasizes the advantages of the partnership for FAST channels and platforms.

“Together, Edgio and Wurl offer FAST channels and platforms the ability to bring their content to more viewers globally,” says Heiting. “As the largest FAST channel network, Wurl, in partnership with Edgio’s Uplynk service, brings a powerful solution to the FAST industry.”

Edgio also notes its global edge network, integrated application, and media solutions offer a single platform for delivering high-performing, secure web properties and streaming content.

According to Wurl, it provides content publishers with the tools to reach global viewers, optimize revenue generation, increase CTV viewership and elevate brand value.

Last month, Edgio also partnered with Leaseweb, a cloud services and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) provider, to integrate into Leaseweb’s Multi-CDN portfolio across North America, EMEA and APAC regions.

According to the companies, the Leaseweb Multi-CDN enhances global reach and user experience by combining multiple CDN providers. Dedicated switching and intelligent traffic routing ensure optimal performance, reduced latency and increased availability.

Both companies note that it also improves high-bandwidth content performance, benefiting the media, entertainment, marketing, SaaS and gaming industries.
