EdgePresence deploys EdgePod data center in Florida, plans further expansion nationwide
EdgePresence, an owner and operator of edge data centers, has deployed a new 15-cabinet EdgePod in the Orlando, Florida market that reached full customer occupancy within two weeks of the deployment.
The company’s EdgePod data center has been deployed with a full slate of revenue-generating customers, including internet service providers, fiber carriers and a large mobile network operator.
Edge data centers are a crucial part of the edge network because they are closer to the user and devices. Compared to a traditional data center, edge data centers have the same equipment but in a smaller footprint. One of the key advantages of an edge data center is the fast delivery of services at high performance with lower latency. According to PwC, the global market for edge data centers is expected to grow to $13.5 billion by 2024.
“During the deployment of our flagship EdgePod, we learned a great deal about our customer needs as well as our deployment capabilities,” says Doug Recker, founder and CEO of EdgePresence.
“Through continuous development iterations, including soliciting feedback and input from customers and recommendations on design from our deployment partners, we have demonstrated a great outcome for our customers and the broader developing ecosystem that has provided EdgePresence with a roadmap for future deployments and insights for a repeatable, scalable and profitable business model,” he adds.
EdgePresence’s EdgePods provide four fiber carriers installed as tenants with each carrier offering its own redundant path into the EdgePod. The company said it has plans to deploy four more EdgePods in Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles, California markets in the next 3 months.
