Edge IoT Asset manager mCloud ties up with SecureAire, secures funding
IoT asset management software firm mCloud Technologies last month announced a pair of corporate developments – a potentially lucrative partnership and a C$4 million placement – that highlight some of the opportunities for companies leveraging edge devices to ensure safer and more efficient workspaces for employees.
Executives at mCloud Technologies said they were partnering with indoor air-purifier firm SecureAire LLC to better kill coronaviruses in commercial buildings, including those preparing to reopen after Covid-19 lockdowns.
SecureAire’s technology, called active particle control, uses an electrostatic field to “oxidize and kill dangerous pathogens and viruses” like the one that causes Covid-19. MCloud said SecureAire filters use semiconductor clean-room technology and are used in at least 60 hospitals.
Publicly held mCloud makes AI-powered asset management software that optimizes the operation of systems with a platform that integrates IoT, cloud computing and analytics capabilities. In this partnership, the company will integrate its HVAC and indoor air quality platform, AssetCare, with SecureAire hardware.
The partnership follows on mCloud’s introduction last year of a Connected Worker offering that enables smart glasses-equipped workers to inspect and perform repairs with integrated digital assistance.
Also, in May mCloud executives released a few details about the US$2.96 million of catalyst capital that it has received from “a prominent investor based in Europe.” They said the money will be used for working capital and general corporate purposes. The company reported a net loss of C$28.7M on C$18.3M in revenues.
