Edge AI tackles swine deaths in livestock management overhaul
Macso Technologies and Unigen have partnered to introduce AI-powered livestock monitoring and management solutions for farms, focusing on early disease detection and cost reduction.
Macso’s AI-enabled sensors, particularly for swine, detect respiratory illnesses early, reducing mortality rates and antibiotic use.
Unigen integrates Macso’s software into its Poundcake AI inference server, enabling affordable, on-premise edge AI solutions for farms without relying on cloud connectivity.
The system allows real-time monitoring, alerts, and remote access for veterinarians and stakeholders to make timely decisions.

Respiratory illnesses account for 60% of global swine deaths, and Macso’s technology addresses this issue with 24/7 monitoring and early detection.
The partnership aims to improve sustainability in animal health management, addressing issues like carbon emissions, hunger, and malnutrition. Macso and Unigen showcased their solutions at the World Pork Expo in June 2025.
