DataBank tightens grip on edge infrastructure with strategic EWR2 property buy
Edge colocation and managed cloud service provider DataBank has acquired the building housing its EWR2 data center in Piscataway, New Jersey, previously leased.
This acquisition aligns with DataBank’s strategy to own and control its data center real estate for better operational control and long-term infrastructure investment.
EWR2 supports critical workloads for diverse clients, including the New Jersey Institute of Technology‘s High-Performance Computing (HPC) environment. The New Jersey market is a strategic hub for IT, education, finance, and research, with proximity to New York City and key network interconnection points.
“This acquisition marks another milestone in our broader strategy to own and control the real estate supporting our edge data center footprint,” says Raul K. Martynek, CEO of DataBank. “Ownership allows us to control our destiny, ensuring we can continue to invest in and evolve our facilities in step with our customers’ growing infrastructure needs.”
Ownership enhances DataBank’s ability to provide stability, scalability, and assurance to its enterprise and institutional clients. Late last year DataBank also earned NVIDIA DGX-Ready data center certification for AI capacity expansion.
