DataBank buys space for fourth Atlanta data center
DataBank acquired 18 acres of land and an existing data center facility in suburban Atlanta, Georgia, to build its fourth data center in the metro of the city.
The data center operator says the new location will be named ‘Lithia Springs Campus’ and ‘ATL4’. It is positioned next to a power sub-station that will support 40MW of critical IT load, an initial footprint of over 200,000 square feet, and expansion room for the facility as needed. ATL4 will be connected to its ATL2 and ATL3 complex with dark fiber.
The acquisition will further DataBank’s strategy of owning the land it uses for data centers, accelerating the pace at bringing new online capacity, and its commitment to the Atlanta market. In December 2021, DataBank expanded ATL3 with more than 22,000 square feet of data center space, continuing a spree of land acquisitions and expansions in the fast-growing Atlanta and broader U.S. data center market.
“ATL4 and the Lithia Springs Campus will greatly expand our capacity to serve the mission-critical IT infrastructure needs of customers in the Atlanta metro,” comments Raul K. Martynek, DataBank’s CEO. “Long ago, we could see that Atlanta was becoming a preeminent data center market and we’re proud to be part of the city’s continued business and tech community growth.”
DataBank also has data centers in Houston, Texas; Denver, Colorado; Las Vegas, Nevada; and Ashburn, Virginia, among other U.S. cities.
