Computer vision AI services to get a boost from SK Telecom, AWS collaboration
Amazon Web Services has teamed up with SK Telecom, a Korean information and communication technology provider, to co-develop computer vision artificial intelligence services. The two organizations will collaborate to leverage each other’s strengths, involving SK Telecom’s AI models and AWS edge, IoT, database and storage capabilities. The joint development will allow enterprises to build and run computer vision applications at scale.
This collaboration aims to make it easier and more cost-effective for customers to build, use and scale computer vision applications, which enhance productivity, maintain equipment, and improve facility safety.
According to the companies, the co-developed computer vision services provide a cost-effective solution for its partners and clients to build, use and scale computer vision applications. These applications, in turn, improve productivity, preserve equipment, and bolster facility safety.

SK Telecom artificial intelligence models are trained on over a decade of anonymized video data to ensure robust and accurate applications. Combined with AWS’s edge services, the companies provide a secure and flexible framework to build computer vision applications that can process and analyze data on-premises, in the cloud or at the edge.
“The combination of SK Telecom’s extensive experience in AI, paired with the elasticity, scalability, and flexibility of AWS will help accelerate AI innovation for SK Telecom and their customers globally,” said Adolfo Hernandez, vice president and general manager of telecom industry at AWS.
SK Telecom and Dell Technologies introduced Petasus, an enterprise 5G mobile edge computing solution that combines SK Telecom’s 5G MEC solution and Dell PowerEdge servers.
