CerebrumX secures Blackberry IVY Innovation Fund investment to expand its edge automotive platform

CerebrumX has secured an investment from the Blackberry IVY Innovation Fund. The company is using the money to expand its deployment of an automotive platform that uses data-driven insights to help carmakers create new in-vehicle applications.

CerebrumX and Blackberry IVY will combine their platforms to create sensors embedded in cars. These sensors will collect data from the surrounding environment to get processed via edge computing systems.

The Blackberry IVY Innovation Fund has provided financial assistance to four companies, including CerebrumX. Their goal is to help the automotive ecosystem build advanced edge-based applications. CerebrumX’s data-driven model allows insurance companies to customize plans based on driver behavior analysis.

“CerebrumX has an ambitious vision, together with our partners, customers, and stakeholders, to deliver intelligent real-time data insights at scale, and we are excited to have BlackBerry onboard as an investor, who share the same long-term commitment to the globally connected vehicle data industry,” says Sandip Ranjhan, the chief executive officer at CerebrumX.

According to CerebrumX, the company has deployed its AI-based augmented deep learning platform on over 45 million trips and gathered data from over 100 million miles. The company works with car manufacturers to provide solutions for the evolving smart transportation market. CerebrumX believes that data-driven models help smart EV car manufacturers build customized solutions for drivers.

CerebrumX provides fleet companies with an automotive platform that enables them to keep track of their applications and reduce the overall cost of ownership. The company has partnered with Toyota to provide real-time data insights to make connected fleet operations more cost-effective.

Embedded sensors collect data from Toyota-connected vehicles and give fleet managers access to real-time telematics, vehicle health data, collision warnings, service warnings and driver behavior.

“By integrating with BlackBerry IVY, we’ll be able to take that offering to the next level and enable CerebrumX to perform intensive amounts of data processing at the vehicle edge to deliver real-time insights to automakers and other ecosystem providers, something which would otherwise involve cumbersome and costly cloud computing resources,” says Vito Giallorenzo, the general manager of IVY and head of corporate development at BlackBerry.
