BrainChip secures $25M to push neuromorphic AI into real-world edge devices

BrainChip raised $25 million to fast track development and commercialization of its neuromorphic AI technology products, including Akida 2 and Akida GenAI.

It will support the growth of BrainChip’s product offering and according to Grand View Research, the global neuromorphic computing market is expected to grow to more than $20 billion by 2030 globally.

“Our capital raise positions BrainChip to further build its lead in edge AI and neuromorphic computing,” says CEO Sean Hehir. “Investor support lets us advance Akida 2 chip development and Akida GenAI model development. We can expand into new commercial opportunities through chip and module products that provide real-time, on-device AI with ultra-low power and no cloud dependency. CES is the ideal stage to showcase our growth trajectory, our consistent groundbreaking innovations and our growing product portfolio.”

At CES, BrainChip will showcase innovations such as the AKD1500 chip for rugged AI deployments, always-on AI capabilities, and AI-powered cybersecurity in partnership with Quantum Ventura.

The new AKD1500 chip is intended for low-power, edge devices including sensors, medical devices and wearables, and will enable the cost-effective development of such products.

The Akida 2 platform offers low-power learning at the edge to deliver real-time solutions with confidential GenAI capabilities on hardware-secure platforms.

BrainChip’s Akida is designed to replicate the human brain and offers efficient AI processing in real-time for industries such as aerospace, robotics, IoT devices and wearables.

The company will also be hosting demos, private meetings and a mixer at CES to showcase its progress as well as network with attendees.

BrainChip launched the Akida Edge AI Box, a compact AI/ML processing appliance for various industries, earlier this year.
