Arrcus launches FlexMCN multi-cloud solution on Equinix edge infrastructure

Arrcus, a cloud networking technology provider, has partnered with Equinix, a digital infrastructure company, to deploy its FlexMCN Multi-Cloud Network solution on Equinix Metal. The companies say this solution addresses network slicing issues, a significant factor driving the adoption of 5G connectivity. The companies say the solution utilizes a hyperscale overlay network, linking Equinix’s bare metal infrastructure at the edge to public and private clouds.

Arrcus believes the co-developed solution will help enterprise customers who wish to create 5G-enabled industrial automation and augmented/virtual reality applications, such as remote surgery. These apps require both low latency and high bandwidth, which this technology provides.

“Enterprises are accelerating their digital transformation and continue to adopt Equinix’s interconnected edge compute, advanced networking, fully programmable and on-demand digital services infrastructure solutions, which are available across the globe,” says Zachary Smith, the global head of edge infrastructure at Equinix.

The Arrcus FlexMCN solution for multiple clouds is a high-performance network with cloud-native security. The solution includes Arc Edge, a secure data plane software and ArchOrchestrator, which speeds up the multi-cloud networking process, the company says. With a flexible architecture, users can deploy the Arrcus FlexMCN solution in various environments, such as data centers, co-location providers, MEC at the edge and private and public cloud networks.

The FlexMCN Arc Orchestrator can deploy the ArcEdge data plane virtual router on Equinix infrastructure and create links from edge computing to public and private clouds. This feature allows businesses to deploy low-latency applications at the edge of Equinix infrastructure and connect various components and resources through a single interface.

“Our FlexMCN solution, combined with Equinix’s interconnected digital infrastructure, will deliver the next generation of digital applications and services that enterprises want while enabling telecom service providers to better monetize their 5G infrastructure,” says Shekar Ayyar, chairman and CEO of Arrcus.
